Winter of Discontent
Join the medieval court of 1484 as King Richard III celebrates Christmas with all the magnificence of a second coronation.
To preserve an outward show of strength and confidence the King spends lavishly, seemly unconcerned of the growing Tudor threat of invasion across the sea, or indeed of those courtiers close to him who plot against his reign. The festivities of Christmas overrule all.
The world shall be turned on its head with feasting and merriment led by the Lord of Misrule, with all the grand pageantry of the 15th century where mythic beasts are brought to life and courtiers enact the great and noble deeds of the saints.
Step into the world of one of England’s most controversial Kings in the very Tower that overshadows much of his reign. It is the place where his brother the Duke of Clarence died and where his young nephews were last seen alive.
Will you side with this much maligned monarch or join those who plot his downfall? Or like the guilds of London, whose trades can be plied regardless of who sits on the throne, simply dance, feast and sing your way through the King’s glorious festivities?
