Historic Royal Palaces has announced a series of spine-tingling events this Halloween season where visitors can step into the eerie embrace of Hampton Court Palace and the Tower of London from 26th October – 3rd November, all included as part of general admission.

HAMPTON COURT PALACE

The former residence of Henry VIII transforms into a haunted Palace for Halloween this October. From ghostly spirits roaming the grounds to otherworldly figures lurking in dark corners, visitors will need to brace themselves for an unforgettable experience at Hampton Court Palace.

From 26th October – 3rd November, visitors to Hampton Court Palace can:

  • Discover The Alchemist’s Apothecary where the ghost of a long-departed alchemist concocts lethal potions and summons sinister spirits.
  • Venture into The Spider’s Lair where a tangled web of cobwebs and cocoons await in the depths of the palace’s wine cellar.
  • Glimpse the frantic ghost of Catherine Howard in the Haunted Gallery, where she first learnt of her grim fate.
  • Encounter the spirit of Sybil Penn, former nurse to Henry VIII’s son Edward, who haunts the hallways of the Palace ever since her tomb was disturbed.
  • Listen to Halloween Storytelling occurring daily in the King’s Guard Chamber.
  • Watch out for menacing Halloween-inspired installations and creepy sound effects that bring to life the former inhabitants of Hampton Court Palace.

TOWER OF LONDON

This year, the Tower of London’s dark past comes alive in a spooky Halloween experience. Visitors are invited to explore the thousand-year-old fortress and encounter its infamous ghosts, which still roam free today. From 26th October – 3rd November, families and history lovers alike can walk in the footsteps of the Tower’s restless spirits and discover its chilling secrets.

Uncover the Tower’s grim stories where some of history’s most notorious figures met their fate, with captivating installations and Halloween-inspired decorations. From a haunted chess game on the South Lawn to a glimpse into the Tower’s astronomical past, complete with celestial maps and scientific instruments, the grounds will transform into a scary spectacle.

Throughout the site, visitors can take a spooky selfie in some of the Tower’s most iconic spots, learn about its infamous inhabitants on a guided Yeoman Warder tour or encounter ghostly spirits from Lady Jane Grey to Isaac Newton, providing the perfect backdrop for a thrilling Halloween experience.
