11th – 17th June 2018
Water City Music at the Tower is a seven day festival of music and song performed by orchestras, bands and choirs of young people from local London schools.
During June the atmosphere of the Tower will be lifted by the sound of music when over one thousand young people will come to perform for our visitors, transforming the atmosphere of this famously macabre site.
The festival is designed to provide inspiration to young performers, connecting them to their local history and community through music, as well as providing joyful, high quality entertainment for our thousands of visitors.
A mixture of contemporary and traditional music will be performed relating to the theme of Fortress, Palace, Prison (historically the main functions of the Tower).
Performances will take place from 12-3pm each day on a main stage in the shadows of the White Tower, and across other stages.
We have created the festival in partnership with Water City Music. Musical direction is led by renowned Violinist, Michael Bochmann of Water City Music.
We are currently recruiting schools to take part in the performances and are also welcoming non-performing school groups to book a visit during this memorable week, where young people will be at the forefront and schools are offered free onsite sessions and resources.
