About this session

Early Years Foundation Stage | Subject: Literacy, PSHE | Topics: Historic environment | Session Type: Route-based

A long time ago, an explorer heard tales of the magical beasts at Hampton Court Palace. Can your children help the explorer on their quest to find the beasts, and hear the story of how they helped King Henry?

Led by a costumed presenter, this interactive and multi-sensory session encourages children to develop their communication and language skills. The historic palace gives children opportunities to experience a rich language environment; to develop their confidence and skills in expressing themselves; and to speak and listen in a range of situations.

Learning objectives

Children will:

  • Engage with stories, characters, buildings and objects at Hampton Court Palace, discovering the world around them.
  • Learn new vocabulary and develop skills needed to retell a story.
