Henry VIII is one of England's most famous kings - but who was the real man behind the stereotype?

Using replica objects that are based on historical artefacts and excerpts from contemporary sources, children will find out how the past is constructed from a range of sources and discuss concepts such as bias.

Children will weigh the evidence to construct a balanced opinion of Henry VIII by asking key enquiry questions.

Learning Objectives

Children will:

  • Explore how evidence can be used to draw conclusions about the past and understand its limitations.
  • Find out that there is more to Henry VIII than the popular stereotypes.
  • Learn that important things happened to the King at Hampton Court.
