History in your hands! In this session students will investigate objects from across the history of Hampton Court to analyse the changing use of relevance of the palace throughout its history.

Through handling primary sources including historic artefacts, students will question what can be gained from the study of physical evidence and to what extent this evidence can be trusted.

Learning Objectives
Students will:

  • Review a range of primary evidence to consider the importance of Hampton Court as a royal palace across time.
  • Study the specific value of physical primary evidence and how it creates debate and contrasting arguments about history.

This session supports:

  • Understanding the methods of historical enquiry, including how evidence is used rigorously to make historical claims, and discerning how and why contrasting arguments and interpretations of the past have been constructed.
