Jubilee Joust FAQs

  • How much are tickets?

    The Jubilee Joust is included in your palace admission ticket at no extra cost.

    You can purchase your ticket for any timeslot and visit the palace and joust in any order. Hampton Court Palace is open 10.00-17.30, with last admission at 16.30.

  • How many times will the Joust run?

    The Jubilee Joust will run three times a day, at 11.00, 13.30 and 16.00, with each performance lasting approximately 45 minutes.

  • Is the Jubilee Joust appropriate for children?

    The Jubilee Joust is a performance based on historical jousts and is appropriate for people of all ages. All children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

  • Can my child watch the Joust by themselves?

    No. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times during their visit including while watching the Joust.

  • Can we interact with the horses?

    No, the horses involved in the joust should not be approached.

    The Shire Horse Carriage rides will be available and allows a more interactive experience. Please always talk to staff before approaching working animals. For more information, please check the website for more information. 

  • Can I bring my own food into the show with me?

    Yes! Please feel free to bring your own picnic to the show. Glass bottles are allowed, however drinking glasses are not permitted. Please use plastic, shatterproof drinking cups and recycle your bottles and plastic after use. Food and drink can only be consumed in the gardens and there are no indoor picnic spaces.

  • Where is the Joust?

    The Jubilee Joust is taking place outside in the gardens of Hampton Court Palace. It is seated directly on grass and is not under cover.

  • Will there be seating?

    No seating is provided to view the Jubilee Joust, so please come prepared to stand or sit on the lawns. We do not allow fold-up chairs. Please be mindful of others and refrain from obstructing views with umbrellas and other items.

     

  • What is in place for those with access requirements?

    The Jubilee Joust is fully accessible; however it takes place on grassed terrain. If you have specific access requirements, please speak to a uniformed member of staff who will be able to direct you to an allocated area.

    As this is a non-ticketed event, spaces are first-come first-served and reservations are not possible. The Joust is included in palace admission there may be more visitors than estimated, so please be aware you may not get a space within the allocated area.   • Can I bring my own food into the show with me?

    Yes! Please feel free to bring your own picnic to the show. Glass bottles are allowed, however drinking glasses are not permitted.   • Can I buy food and drink during the show?

    Yes! There will be a catering tent located in the Joust arena that will serve a variety of food and drinks as well as our two onsite cafés.

  • What happens in extreme weather?

    The safety and welfare of all involved is of utmost importance and this event is weather dependant. Should event organisers believe safety is compromised the event may be cancelled. As this event is included in your admission ticket and does not incur any extra charge there will be no refunds offered due to cancelled performances.

     

  • Are dogs allowed?

    Only service or guide dogs are allowed inside Hampton Court Palace, in the Maze and in the gardens.

     

  • Can I leave my dog anywhere while I watch the show or visit the palace?

    There are no facilities for dogs to be left while their owners visit the palace and they cannot be left in cars in the palace car park. Owners of any animals left in cars are libel to prosecution under the Animal Welfare Act and we are obliged to call the police to parked vehicles containing animals.

     

  • What is the policy regarding smoking?

    The Jubilee Joust area is a no smoking zone, so please refrain from smoking both normal cigarettes and e-cigarettes in the area. There are designated smoking areas within the grounds, please speak to a member of event staff on the day for more details.

  • Will there be toilet facilities?

    Yes, the closest toilet facilities are just outside the Joust arena, either by the tennis courts or in the Wilderness.

     

  • Will there be any photography or filming?

    It is possible Historic Royal Palaces will be filming and taking photographs at this event. Please speak to a member of staff on the day of the event if you wish to opt out.

  • Can I take photographs or use video?

    You are welcome to take photographs and videos providing these are for non-commercial use only.

     

  • What Covid-19 safety measures are in place?

    In line with the government guidance, all restrictions have now been lifted. This is an outdoor event, so the use of masks is not required, but we do still ask that you are mindful of others sharing the space.
