Courses at the Royal School of Needlework

Certificate & Diploma in Technical Hand Embroidery
The Royal School of Needlework’s Certificate & Diploma in Technical Hand Embroidery concentrates on four core techniques: Jacobean Crewelwork, Silk Shading, Basic Goldwork and either Canvas Stitches or Blackwork. Students are part of a long tradition of maintaining the highest standard in the beautiful art of hand embroidery.

These courses offer a flexible structure. Students can enrol throughout the year and choose days that suit them, so perfect for anyone with family or work constraints. Intensive courses during the summer are popular with International Students.

Future Tutors Programme – the Royal School of Needlework’s Teacher Training Course
Designed to train future teachers of hand embroidery, this three-year full-time course at Hampton Court Palace is the Royal School of Needlework’s own professional qualification and includes a teaching qualification to City & Guilds Level 3.

Students learn a wide variety of hand embroidery techniques and teaching theory, in addition to practical and commercial experience. No previous experience in hand embroidery is necessary.
