Our Palace gardeners were kept busy last autumn planting over 100,000 bulbs ready for our inaugural Tulip Festival this year. Stroll through our courtyards and formal gardens and immerse yourself in the spectacular displays of brightly coloured blooms.

Tulips have always been synonymous with spring, heralding the start of the warmer days to come and this year our gardens team have curated a unique display of 60 rare and historic bulbs and specialist varieties. These bulbs, from the famous Hortus Bulborum in the Netherlands, will be on show in the Lower Orangery Garden, alongside handmade replicas of Mary II’s tulip vases.

Find out more about the history of tulips at the palace with our dedicated Tulip Festival Guide booklet, available from 12 April to 3 May 2021.
