Take a wander down to the secluded lake at Hillsborough Castle and Gardens, where the spectacular landscape of the grounds opens up to an expanse of picturesque waterways.

Follow walks and trails as you explore, taking in the hub of wildlife that inhabits this quiet corner of the castle grounds.

This large, beautiful lake is fed by the stream that meanders through the gardens from the south-east, before flowing off towards Culcavy to the north-west.

Popular with the 18th-century landowner, the pathways and carriageways that surround the lake were designed to give the appearance of a much larger estate. Those 18th and 19th-century paths around the lake remain for you to enjoy.
