Hillsborough Castle and Gardens will be marking the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement with a range of opportunities for schools:

  • Two days of onsite activity taking place on Thursday 20 and Friday 21 April 2023.
  • 25 free sessions will be available for schools to book between April and mid-November 2023, including bursaries towards travel.

Onsite school events

Thursday 20 April 2023: A day of programming onsite for secondary schools, exploring themes of negotiation and compromise, as well as Hillsborough Castle’s role in this seminal moment in Northern Irish history.

Friday 21 April 2023: A day of programming onsite for key stage 2 pupils, exploring Hillsborough Castle’s gardens as a place of respite and calm throughout its history, through a range of outdoor activities encouraging team-working and wellbeing.

Free Sessions & Travel Bursary Offer

Schools can visit Hillsborough Castle and Gardens for free, including a bursary towards travel costs, to avail of one of our facilitated sessions exploring the political history of the site from the 18th century to the present day.
