Discover the science of animation!

Join in the action and explore the history of Kensington Palace as a showcase of scientific discovery:

  • Take part in Isaac Newton's light demonstration to Queen Caroline and create your own light patterns in the palace.
  • Create your own moving picture and discover how a Magic Lantern works.
  • Play with Victorian toys and find out how we see moving pictures in these early examples of animation. Then have a go at making your own thaumatrope toy inspired by the palace.
  • Pick up an activity bag from our Time Explorers Station and discover more about the beautiful art you see around you.
