Travel information for your visit to Kensington Palace

Travel Disruption

Kensington Palace is located within easy walking distance of underground stations including High Street Kensington and Queensway.

From Queensway Underground Station

Queensway underground station (Central Line) is 728 metres (0.45 miles) to the palace entrance — approximately a 10-minute walk.

From the station, walk up Bayswater Road and enter Kensington Gardens via Black Lion Gate. Walk 5-10 minutes straight along the main path.

From High Street Kensington Underground Station

High Street Kensington underground station (Circle and District Lines) is 765 metres (0.47 miles) to the palace entrance — approximately a 10-minute walk.

Walk 5 minutes along Kensington High Street until you reach Kensington Gardens via Dial Walk or the Broad Walk. Continue walking for a further 5 minutes towards the palace.

Other local stations

  • Notting Hill Gate station (a 20-25 minute walk) – for Central, District and Circle lines
  • Paddington station (a 20-minute walk) - for National Rail and the Elizabeth line

Local buses

Routes 94, 148 and 274 stop along Bayswater Road.

Routes 9, 49, 52, 70 and 452 stop along Kensington High Street.

Local car parking

There is no on-site parking at Kensington Palace. We recommend that visitors avoid coming by car as nearby car parking facilities are limited. The nearest car parks are:

Accessible parking is available on-site.

  • Your name
  • Date and estimated time of arrival
  • Car registration plate details
  • Blue Badge serial number

Please book at least seven days in advance of your visit as there are a limited number of spaces available. If not booked in advance, all spaces may have been taken.

Accessible parking is for cars only. There is no accessible coach parking available on site.

Cycle to Kensington Palace

Santander Cycle docking stations can be found at:

  • Black Lion Gate, Kensington Gardens
  • Palace Gate, Kensington Gardens

Bike rack facilities are available on-site inside the Sunken Garden Gate.

Please note, cycling is not permitted in Kensington Palace gardens or on some paths in Hyde Park.

Coaches

Coach drop-off and collection is currently not available on-site. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

There is a Euro Car Parks coach park available at Orme Square Gate, which is a 10-15 minute walk from the palace. More information can be found on the Euro Car Parks website.
