Follow one of our volunteers on an award-winning* walking tour of the garden surrounding Kensington Palace and explore the diverse history and development of the gardens.

These tours will bring a host of intriguing and surprising stories of the gardens to life; who kept wild animals in the grounds?  Who created the magnificent statue of Queen Victoria? And who made the iconic golden gates?

These FREE tours will allow you to get up close and personal to the magnificent statue of Queen Victoria, admire the iconic Gold Gates and pause and reflect by the enchanting Sunken Garden.

Please note

  • These tours are not botanical tours and will explore the history of the gardens.
  • The tours may be cancelled due to extreme weather conditions – you may wish to bring an umbrella, water, sunhat or all three!
  • The tour does not include access to Kensington Palace. If you would like to purchase an admission ticket, please visit the ticket page here.

* The volunteers won the Highly Commended award in Bringing Innovations at the London Volunteers in Museum Awards 2012.
