Ever wanted to know the stories behind some of the most famous photographs of the British royal family?
In anticipation of next year's opening of the exhibition Life Through a Royal Lens at Kensington Palace, Historic Royal Palaces is hosting an intimate curator talk.
Historic Royal Palaces' Joint Chief Curator Lucy Worsley interviews Claudia Acott-Williams, author of ‘The Crown in Focus’ and curator of the 2021 exhibition, Life Through a Royal Lens, delving deeper into the world of royal image making across the centuries.
In this intimate 1 hour talk online, Lucy and Claudia will explore the iconic public and personal images of the most photographed family in the world, and the relationship between monarchy and media, from Queen Victoria to the present day.
The conversation will be followed by an opportunity to ask questions on anything from Lucy's television costumes, to Claudia's favourite images, or insights from her extensive research to prepare for the exhibition.
This event is free to join, but we ask you to consider making a donation of £10 or whatever you can afford.
The six palaces under the care of Historic Royal Palaces are currently closed as part of the national effort to defeat the coronavirus. As an independent charity that generates all our own funds, we – like many of you – are facing unprecedented challenges. Any support you can give will be put to our essential costs of caring for the palaces.
Historic Royal Palaces is a charity registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales (No. 1068852).
We look forward to you joining our online event.
