With the holiday season upon us, there’s no better way to kick-start Christmas than with a visit to the Hampton Court Palace Festive Fayre. Held in the palace’s atmospheric courtyards, visitors can retrace the steps of one of Hampton Court’s most well-known residents and notorious foodie, King Henry VIII. Better yet, it’s included in the regular admission price and free for members of Historic Royal Palaces!
The historic courtyards and East Gardens will be filled with over 90 mouth-watering stalls featuring everything from mulled wine to festive cocktails, and Christmas pudding to warm churros, all guaranteed to get the taste buds tingling. New for this year is the Humble Country gift section, featuring a handpicked collection of inspiring gifts and treasures for the home, promising to be a Christmas shopping opportunity not to be missed! As well as an array of artisan producers and gifts, a fabulous line up of chefs are also on the menu, including Marcus Bean and Alex Hollywood. The culinary experts will be cooking up a storm in The Kitchen, and with all the demonstration sessions also included in the ticket price, it’s the perfect way to pick up some seasonal recipe inspiration and top tips.
Once shoppers have feasted their way through the delicious fare on offer, they can soak up the festive atmosphere, with the Courtyard Bandstand playing favourite Christmas classics to entertain shoppers, as well as carol singing by local choirs. For evening present hunting, the Twilight Shopping ticket is available on Friday and Saturday evenings from 4 – 6pm. The perfect chance to stock up on foodie gifts and the ticket costs £5 and excludes palace entry. Alternatively, upgrade to a VIP ticket to truly get the star treatment, with the opportunity to relax in the exclusive VIP lounge, a glass of complimentary Champagne PIAFF and a goodie bag complete with a cook book packed with scrummy ideas to take home.
In addition to the Festive Fayre, there’s a whole palace and over 60 acres of formal gardens to explore. Inside the stunning State Apartments visitors can celebrate Christmas traditions from the past and present through the eyes of Hampton Court’s Edwardian grace-and-favour residents. Join in the fun with Christmas Present, Christmas Past (1 December – 6 January), a new live offer which will transport visitors back to 1906, where the palace community are preparing for Christmas. From singing carols around the tree to telling spooky ghost stories, discover the centuries old traditions they’re drawing upon to inspire their festive play. Meanwhile, in the palace’s Henry VIII Kitchens, the historic cookery team will be busy at work with live culinary demonstrations, showcasing the evolution of Christmas dinner as we know it today.

Historic Royal Palaces is the independent charity that looks after the Tower of London, Hampton Court Palace, the Banqueting House, Kensington Palace, Kew Palace and Hillsborough Castle. We help everyone explore the story of how monarchs and people have shaped society, in some of the greatest palaces ever built. We raise all our own funds and depend on the support of our visitors, members, donors, sponsors and volunteers. With the exception of Hillsborough Castle, these palaces are owned by The Queen on behalf of the nation, and we manage them for the Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport. Historic Royal Palaces cares for Hillsborough Castle under a separate contract with the Northern Ireland Office.
Registered charity number 1068852.
