There have been many attempted escapes from the Tower of London - some successful and some, most definitely not. This study day looks at the best laid plans and total flops of attempted escapes and how very building itself has transformed from prison to palace to visitor attraction over the years.
Session 1: Learn about the memorable prisoners of the Tower with a historian
Session 2: Walk through the escape of Elizabethan Catholic plotter John Gerard and see if you could do it better
Session 3: Explore the Tower’s archive of architectural drawings and see how it has adapted over the years with our buildings curator
