Key Stage 5 | Subject: History | Topics: Stuarts, War and Conflict | Session Type: Depth Study
If the Tower falls, London falls? The Civil War saw the beginning of significant adjustments to the Tower’s defences as the loyalties of Londoners came under question.
In this session students will explore the symbolic and physical importance of the Tower through the fluctuating success of the Royalist and Parliamentarian factions.
Through analysis of the Tower buildings and documentary evidence, students will examine the shifts of popular support over the course of the conflict and evaluate how far the Tower’s status reflected the rise and fall of the different sides.
