Take part in events that followed the failed Gunpowder Plot of 1605!

Using role play and questioning, children will interrogate characters who played a key part in the story and help King James I gather the information he needs to bring the plotters to justice.

This experience is suitable for both KS1 and KS2 groups and involves scheduled slots with costumed characters, followed by a short performance.

Learning objectives
Children will:

  • Play a part in one of the Tower’s most infamous stories
  • Interrogate evidence and question the reliability of different sources of information
  • Learn about the story of the Gunpowder Plot, and the Tower’s role in it.

National Curriculum links
This session supports:

  • Extending chronological knowledge of significant events in British history beyond 1066.
  • Constructing informed responses that involve thoughtful selection and organisation of relevant historical information
  • Development of speaking and listening skills and asking perceptive questions.
