What was life at the Tower like during the reign of King Henry VIII? How would the Tudor court have prepared for a royal coronation?

During this interactive session, students will discover what it was like to be a courtier at the Tower and will get ready for the arrival of Queen Anne Boleyn.

Based in a classroom, the session will feature the following:  

  • Singing a rhyme about exploring the Tower.
  • Handling replica objects.
  • Trying on Tudor costume.
  • Taking part in a Tudor jewellery-making activity.
  • Participating in a Tudor character ‘hot seat’ activity. 

Learning objectives
Students will:

  • Learn about Hampton Court’s stories and history.
  • Be empowered to use their senses to explore new historic environments.
  • Develop social and emotional skills.

This session is suitable for students with MLD and SLD, aged between 6 and 16 years, who attend special schools or units. Please note that the presenter will be in costume unless requested otherwise by the school.
