Students will explore the reign and personality of King Henry VIII, with the help replica armour. How do we find out about the past? Can his armour tell us more about the King?

The session is delivered by a presenter skilled in supporting students with special educational needs. It is based entirely in the classroom, and includes the following:

  • Opportunity to find out more about Tudor costume.
  • Handling and trying on replica armour.
  • Re-enactment of a joust.
  • Stories about Henry VIII’s prowess on the tournament field. 

Learning objectives

Students will:

  • Learn about the life of an iconic individual.
  • Use artefacts to help explore the past.
  • Understand how different sources can help us construct a full picture of an individual.

Please note that the presenter will be in costume throughout. The session is suitable for students aged between 7 and 18 years.
