Tower of London + Gunpowder Plot

Gunpowder Plot is a Tower of London immersive experience, where history comes alive all around you in the Tower Vaults. Authentic costumes, historically accurate sets and all the latest special effects place you at the heart of the plot in this completely realistic experience set in 1605 London.

How to buy

  • Add a £30 voucher for discounted general admission tickets to the Gunpowder Plot when purchasing a Tower of London admission ticket, saving up to £25 per ticket.
  • The voucher can be redeemed for a general admission ticket to the Gunpowder Plot. Email [email protected] with your voucher reference number, and you will be sent a link and a unique code which you can use to book in your preferred date and time.

Open Thursday to Sunday, tickets to this unique experience are limited! Allow 1 hour and 40 minutes for the experience and arrive 30 minutes before your allocated time slot.

If you would like to visit both the Tower and Gunpowder Plot on the same day, please check availability first via the Gunpowder Plot website as availability cannot be guaranteed. The purchase of a voucher is not a guarantee of entry so please don't make any travel or accommodation arrangements until you have received confirmation of your booking from the Gunpowder Plot.

How to buy

  • Choose your entry time from live availability when you book Gunpowder Plot directly via the Gunpowder Plot website.
  • Get tickets emailed straight away.

This option allows you to book your Gunpowder Plot tickets with or without admission vouchers to the Tower of London.

Gunpowder Plot immersive experience is not inside the Tower of London. A Gunpowder Plot ticket does not include admission to the Tower of London, unless you add Tower of London admission vouchers to your order.

Receive tickets by email or print at home

  1. Download your PDF ticket to your mobile for scanning at the entrance or
  2. Click the link in the email that we’ll send you and print out all your tickets

If you are not able to download your e-tickets using the link in your confirmation email, please show your reference number which begins 42xxxxxxxxx to the ticket desk when you arrive and staff on site will be able to print your tickets for you.

Visit our Terms of Use

Complimentary adult carer tickets can be obtained on the day of your visit upon presentation of proof of registered disability (such as a Blue Badge, Freedom Pass, DLA letter or PIP letter).

Adult carer/companion tickets are also available to book online.

Only one carer ticket can be added per booking but each disabled visitor can bring one person with them free of charge as a carer/companion. If your party requires more than one carer ticket, please book your paid tickets online and email [email protected] with your booking reference number and all proof of need. We will be happy to reserve the additional carer tickets for your party at no extra cost.

You can arrive within 30 minutes of your ticket time (e.g., between 10:00-10:29). We are unable to guarantee entry before or after your time slot. 

You should at least two hours for your visit but you can enjoy the Tower for the whole day until closing. Your ticket is valid for one entry only. No re-entry is permitted. See Opening and closing times.

The Tower of London is a historic building with difficult stairs and passageways — including spiral staircases — and wheelchair access is limited. There are many steps throughout the Tower with cobbles laid in some of the surfaces and pathways. There are some low doorways.

On your way around the Tower, you will meet our staff and volunteers who will be happy to help support your visit or answer any questions.

  • 5 mins from Tower Hill Underground station – served by the District and Circle lines and step free access to street level. 
  • 10-15 mins from Monument, Bank, Aldgate, Aldgate East London Underground stations
  • 10-15 mins from London Bridge and Fenchurch Street stations
  • 20 min from Liverpool Street station
  • 25 mins from London Charing Cross station

You can also travel by river boatTower Pier is served by river boats travelling from various piers including Westminster and London Eye and is located next to the Tower entrance.

Buses

Routes 15, 42, 78, 100, 343 and RV1 stop nearby the Tower of London.
