The Devil's Slave is set in the dangerous and uncertain times following the discovery of the Gunpowder Plot, which was only narrowly foiled by King James I's officials. Any hint of association with the members of the plot will lead to mortal danger, but for the novel's heroine, Frances Gorges, old loyalties - and loves - will not always be denied.

As Tracy will reveal in this illustrated talk, the Tower plays a central role in the story, as does one of its most famous prisoners: Sir Walter Raleigh.
