Update 14 December: In line with government guidance, the Tower of London will be closed from 16 December.
Beyond the Deepening Shadow will be free to view from Tower Hill and the Tower concourse, next to Tower Hill station.
We expect your experience to take 40-50 minutes in total. This includes approximately 20 minutes for security checks, a health and safety briefing and entry.
It also includes the walk around the Tower Moat which may take around 20-30 minutes, along the 900-metre walkway.
We recommend arriving 10-15 minutes before your designated time-slot.
Due to the high number of people attending this installation, we will not be able to accommodate latecomers.
Due to the nature of the installation, we cannot permit children under the age of 11 years to enter the Moat.
All children aged 11-15 years must be accompanied by an adult. We reserve the right to refuse admission if children are unattended.
If you would like to attend with a child under the age of 11, you will be able to view the installation from Tower Hill free of charge — this area can be accessed by visitors of all ages.
If you require a carer ticket and have already booked your ticket online, please email [email protected] with your booking reference number and we will post a carer ticket to you.
Please note that tickets have now sold out for this event. We can only issue a carer ticket if you already have at least one ticket booked.
When using a carer ticket you may be asked to provide proof of disability at the ticket check point in order to gain admittance.
Tickets will be posted to you in advance or can be collected on the night of the event if booked within seven days of the event. Please allow extra time if collecting your tickets as latecomers cannot be accommodated.
Tickets to Beyond the Deepening Shadow have now sold out and are for entry to the Moat only. However, there are two ticketing options if you wish to see the other public areas of the Tower of London during your visit:

Yes, the route through the installation is a step-free path that is approximately 900 metres long and covered with trakway. It has been designed to be accessible for all visitors and will have a ramp at the entrance and exit for easy accessibility.
Please dress for the weather and wear appropriate footwear for the walk around the Moat.

Yes, handbags and backpacks are permitted, however they will be subject to a security check on entrance.
Due to the nature of the installation, no roller bags or suitcases will be allowed into the Moat and there will not be any opportunities to leave luggage.
Yes, but we ask that you do not use a flash or tripod. We also request that you are respectful of other visitors and the commemorative nature of the installation.
This is an outdoor event and the installation will be open to the elements. The event will be held in rain or poor weather and will only be cancelled in the event of extreme weather that could cause a safety risk.
Assistance dogs will be admitted to the installation however no other animals will be permitted.
There will be small catering outlets on the Tower Wharf near the entrance to the installation where you can buy hot and cold drinks and snacks.
You may bring a small bottle of water into the Moat however, no food or alcoholic drinks will be permitted.
The installation will include torches with naked flames, event lighting (but no strobe-lighting) and atmospheric haze.
There will be no battlefield sounds included in the sound installation.
No, both smoking and vaping are strictly prohibited inside the Tower of London and Moat.
We will not be selling any of the flames as they burn out at the end of each evening.

You can reserve a place on one of our audio described sessions for visually impaired visitors. Please book a ticket through our Contact Centre (0345 200 1918). These will be taking place on the 06 and 07 November at 18:00 and 19:00. You will be asked to meet your guide 30 minutes before your timeslot.
Transcripts of the Yeoman Warder introductions at the start of each time slot will be available with large-print versions.
There will be a BSL interpreter on site on the 09 November who will be signing introductions for the 18:00 and 19:00 sessions. If you would like to reserve a place, please book a ticket through our Contact Centre (0345 200 1918 or textphone 18001 020 3166 6000). You will be asked to meet 30 minutes before your timeslot.
During time slots when there is no interpreter, transcripts (small and large print) will be available for the Yeoman Warder introductions at the start of each time slot.
We have lanyards available if you would like to discreetly alert event staff to the fact that you may need extra time, help, or assistance. Please ask a member of staff at the Group Tickets desk on Tower Hill before you have your ticket checked.

Yes, we will have toilet facilities for disabled visitors to the installation. These will be located in the moat. Please ask a member of staff if you need help finding these.
A Changing Places toilet will also be available at Petty Wales on Tower Hill on the event dates. Please ask any member of staff if you require access.
There are also public disabled toilets on Tower Hill, which are open 24 hours a day and operated using a RADAR key.

We do everything we can to ensure visitors with disabilities enjoy the full Tower experience.
Tower Hill station (District and Circle line) will be closed on 04 November 2018. There are also planned closures on the Circle and District lines on this date.
Tower Hill station will be extremely busy between 05-11 November 2018.
There are planned strikes on the Piccadilly, Central and Waterloo & City lines on 07 and 08 November 2018.

The nearest stations to the Tower are Fenchurch Street (5 minute walk) or London Bridge (15 minute walk).
You can use bus routes 15, 42, 78, 100 and RV1 to reach the Tower of London. These routes stop within 5-10 minutes walking distance of the Tower.
Please note that during the planned Tube strike on 07 and 08 November these buses are likely to be extremely busy. Diversions will be in place in central London during the weekend of 10-11 November.

Roads around the Tower of London will remain open. However, roads are expected to be busy and there is no parking at the Tower of London. You are advised to seek alternative ways of getting to the event.
Road closures and diversions will be in place due to the Lord Mayor’s Show and Remembrance Day events especially around City of London and Westminster. You are advised to check before you travel and leave more time for your journey.

Passengers should check with their operator. Coaches should use the Tower Hill coach park on Lower Thames Street to set down and pick up.

River services will be running as normal. River Bus services are operated by MBNA Thames Clippers.
