What's happening at the Tower of London?

Conservation work in 2026

We are proud to care for some of the most important buildings in the world. It is essential that we carry out expert conservation at the Tower of London to maintain, protect and preserve the fortress for everyone to enjoy.

In 2026, significant work continues in the Chapel Royal of St Peter ad Vincula and the Middle Tower (the visitor entrance) with reduced access or closures. Before your visit, please check upcoming closures at the Tower.

Explore the spaces and learn more about their conservation below.

Middle Tower (visitor entrance)

Closed until mid-June 2026 (open during busy periods)

The Middle Tower will be closed to maintain the building's structure. This conservation work will include repairing the windows, the roof and the moat causeway. The process will involve using as much original stone as possible and surveying the stonework to learn more about its origins.
