Where possible, we aim to give notice of local events that may disrupt your travel to Banqueting House. If you are visiting on the dates listed below it is advised you check Transport for London for travel advice around Whitehall. 

London Landmarks Half Marathon - 24 March 2019 

This closed road running event will involve some road closures in the surrounding area. 

05:00-18:00 - Whitehall and Horse Guards Avenue will be closed to vehicles. 

The surrounding area will be very busy. Visitors are advised to check before they travel and avoid driving if possible. 


Travel routes


  • Westminster station: Circle and District, Jubilee lines (5 minute walk)
  • Embankment station: Bakerloo, Circle and District, Northern lines (5 minute walk)


  • Charing Cross station (10 minute walk)


  • Routes 3, 11, 12, 24, 53, 87, 88 and 159 call at bus stops near to the Banqueting House. 


  • Banqueting House is in the Congestion Charging Zone.
  • There is no on-site parking facility at Banqueting House.
  • Parking in the surrounding area is limited. Nearest car park: Q-park Trafalgar (6 minutes walk)


  • The nearest bicycle parking racks are located near the corner of Northumberland Avenue and Embankment Place (5 minute walk). 
  • Hire a Santander Cycle - the nearest stop is outside Whitehall Gardens on Northumberland Avenue (5 minute walk)


Metered coach bays can be found along the Victoria Embankment. Coaches may drop off/collect groups in Whitehall. Please let us know the following 24 hours in advance:

  • The coach’s registration number
  • The driver’s name
