About the Access Fund for schools

The Access Fund for schools 2019-20 has now closed. Further information about the 2020-21 Fund will be available in due course.

The fund offers your school the opportunity to have a high quality, immersive learning experience at the iconic sites of Tower of London, Hampton Court Palace and Kensington Palace.

We support visits from Key Stage 1 - 5 students and special school students.

The fund covers:

  • Cost of general admission for up to 105 pupils
  • A facilitated session for all children at mainstream schools and up to 10 pupils from special schools
  • Adults accompanying children at our stated ratios.

All participating schools will also be given the opportunity to attend a free Teacher Familiarisation day at their chosen site (which includes free entry), join our Historic Royal Palaces Teacher Network and participate in structured evaluation activities during the visit.

Eligibility

Schools must be:

  • A state-funded primary, secondary or special school
  • Located in an inner or outer London borough

Applications for the fund from schools with one or more of the following characteristics will be prioritised:

  • At least 30% of pupils eligible for Pupil Premium
  • At least 50% of pupils with a first language that is known to be other than English
  • At least 15% of pupils with special educational needs. This will not be considered in relation to special schools.
