Members-Only Bat Walks

• Guided evening bat walk in Hampton Court Palace gardens and courtyards using bat detectors to spot them in their natural habitat.
• Learn about the important role bats play in our ecosystem from your guides.

Step into the atmospheric gardens and courtyards of Hampton Court Palace after hours and experience the fascinating world of bats in their natural habitat.

Before the walk begins, you’ll be introduced to the bats of the UK and the vital roles they play in our ecosystem. Then, as twilight falls, we’ll set out to discover the bats that call the palace grounds home including the agile pipistrelle and the water-skimming Daubenton’s bat. 

With handheld bat detectors, you’ll have the opportunity to listen in on their ultrasonic calls and identify the different species we encounter along the way.

• Please dress warmly and wear sturdy footwear, as the walk takes place entirely outdoors and the route includes uneven surfaces.
• Although we will try our best we cannot guarantee that visitors will see/hear bats.
• Please be aware that there will be limited opportunities to sit down during the walk. 
• Bat walks are weather dependent. In the event of inclement weather it may be necessary to cancel the walk. If this is the case, you will be notified via the email associated with your membership; as per our Terms and Conditions, refunds will not be available.
