Home Educator Day events
We host dedicated days for home educators at some of our popular palaces throughout the year. To support you to have the best experience on these days we reduce school visits so that there is more space available to explore. You will have access to the site all day with a range of programmed and self-led activities available to support your visit.

Friday 26 February 2027 at Hampton Court Palace. Tickets will go on sale on Monday 7 December.
Tuesday 17 July at Kensington Palace. Tickets will go on sale on Monday 8 March 2027.
Our next event
Explore the Tower of London, Monday 2 November 2026, 10.00-16.00
Join us for a special event at the Tower of London, created exclusively for home educating families. Discover history where it happened as you meet characters from the Tower’s history and learn about modern day life and learn through doing with our art workshop and historic object handling.
The event combines history and art, and hands on learning.
Please note that this event repeats the activities offered on our 21 April Home Educator Day. As the TFL strikes meant many people had to cancel, we are offering a chance to take part in these activities again. If you did attend this day, you are very welcome to attend again but you may prefer to visit on one of our other upcoming dates for a new experience.
What to expect
Families can handle historical objects, encounter historical characters, take part in a facilitated craft workshop inspired by the Tower, and follow self-led activity trails.
The activities are designed so you can mix and match to create a day of learning that works best for you. Here is a provisional activities timetable:
Character Encounters: Guy Fawkes: 11:00, 12:00, 13:30, 14:30 Colonel Blood: 11:30, 12:30, 14:00, 15:00 Phillis Wheatley: 11:30, 12:30, 14:00, 15:00
Object handling: 11:00 – 12:30; 13:30 – 15:30
Art workshop: 10:30 – 16:00

Our minimum ratios for supervision are:
Ages 4 - 7 = 1:5
Ages 8-15 = 1:10
