FAQ's for the Tower of London

The White Tower can host up to 90 guests for seated dinner and up to 240 for a standing reception.

The New Armouries can host up to 150 guests for a reception and seated dinner and up to 300 guests for a standing reception.

These two spaces can also be combined to accommodate up to 240 guests with a reception in the White Tower and then seated dinner in the New Armouries.

The Medieval Palace can host up to 40 guests on round tables for a seated dinner and up to 80 guests for a standing reception.

All our spaces have outdoors reception options that can be used should the weather allow; the above numbers would be the capacity limits as they are the wet weather options available.

The venue spaces of the White Tower, New Armouries and Medieval Palace are exclusive to your hire, as well as the private hire of the Jewel House.

But please note as a site we cannot offer full exclusivity as we have residents who live on site, a working Chapel with services and headquarters for the regiment of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, which all have independent activities across the year.

We are a visitor site during the day; therefore, we are restricted in terms of access, and we have a curfew of midnight for all guests to be off-site.

During summer hours, suppliers are allowed access at 18:00 and in winter hours at 17:00, with guest arrivals at 18:30/18:45.

We also have the famous Ceremony of Keys, the tradition of locking up the Tower of London, which has been happening every night for over 700 years. The Ceremony takes place between 21:30-22:05. Between 21:30-22:05, there can be no movement of guests or staff inside the Tower of London.

For the New Armouries, we can offer an early morning load-in before we open to the public at 09:00, and then daytime set-up can commence within the building through the day, as this space is not open to the public.

This space is also available for daytime hire with guest arrival from 09:00.

We are a dry hire venue only. Hire includes all relevant staffing on site, such as an on-site event manager from our team, around-the-clock security, guestlist staff, Yeoman Warders and cleaners.

Please note that if your event requires additional security, this might incur an additional charge.

We work with a list of approved suppliers for all other elements. Your catering, production, furniture and entertainment costs are additional fees that will be quoted to you by our approved suppliers upon contact. We recommend contacting our approved suppliers as soon as possible to gather all your costs for the event.

Yes. Venue hire for the White Tower and New Armouries includes guest access for an exclusive viewing of the Crown Jewels at the start of the event.

Venue hire of the Medieval Palace does not automatically include access to the Crown Jewels. This must be requested separately and is subject to an additional fee of £3,000 + VAT. However, venue hire of the Medieval Palace does include special access to the Ceremony of the Keys.

On arrival at the Tower of London your guests will be met by one of the historic Yeoman Warders (Beefeater), and your evening will begin with a ‘walk and talk' through the site.

Guests will have the opportunity to see the infamous Traitor's Gate and execution site whilst hearing some of the notorious stories the Tower has to offer.

As a special added extra, you can begin your event with a private viewing of the Crown Jewels.

For groups smaller than 50 guests, we can offer your group the opportunity to view the Ceremony of the Keys after their dinner. The Ceremony of the Keys is the oldest military ceremony in the world, in which the Tower of London is ceremoniously locked for the night.

(Please note this would impact your event timings, and the Ceremony is not exclusive to your group.)

We offer site visits during opening hours on weekdays for prospective clients with a live enquiry.

Please fill in our Enquire About a Venue form, and one of our team will come back to you to start the conversation about holding your event here at the Tower of London. They will offer dates and times for a site visit and get this booked in as soon as you or your client is available.

During this process, we offer a hold in our diary, which allows you to provisionally hold a date and space(s) so that they won’t get booked by others while you consider your options. The date will be held for 2 weeks.

After a site visit has been conducted and you would like to secure your booking, your contact will talk you through the contracting process and get this started for you.

Please note we only take bookings 18 months out from the event date due to the changing nature of our site.

Internally, branding is permitted within our spaces, provided that all venue guidelines are followed. For example, nothing may be attached directly to the fabric or structure of the building.

Externally, we allow projection onto designated areas of the buildings, which can be used for branding, projection mapping and other non-permanent visual installations.

For further information, please contact our team directly. They will be happy to discuss the available options and advise on feasibility.

We are ideally located in the City of London, please refer to our Getting Here page for further details.

Please note there is no parking at the Tower of London. Alternatively, the nearest car park is located on Lower Thames Street.

The best drop off location for events guests is on Petty Wales, Lower Thames Street, EC3N 4AB, which is just next to the main entrance of West Gate.
