The Chapel Royal is a working chapel which occasionally closes for religious services.

The Magic Garden

The Magic Garden will be closed for essential maintenance and upkeep on the following dates in 2017:

  • On Tuesday 27 June the Magic Garden will close early at 17.00. Last entry will be at 16.00.
  • Monday 11 September

Free entry to the Formal Gardens

We offer free access to the palace’s East Front Gardens between the hours of 9am and 10am throughout the year. In addition to this daily opening, there are an additional nine days of free access to the Palace’s formal gardens during the palace’s summer season in 2017:

  • National Garden Open Day: We will be opening the East and South Front Gardens free of charge on 1 August each year in conjunction with the National Gardens Scheme. 
  • Hampton Court Palace Flower Show: We will be opening the East and South Front Gardens for the duration of the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show: 4 – 9 July 2017
  • Open House Weekend: We will be opening the East and South Front Gardens for the duration of Open House Weekend: 16 – 17 September 2017

Built between 1526 and 1529, the royal tennis courts at Hampton Court Palace were used regularly by Henry VIII and you can view them as part of your visit.
