Life through a Royal Lens touring exhibition

The first touring exhibition from Historic Royal Palaces is visiting venues around the UK

Life Through a Royal Lens will tour a unique collection of Royal photography, documenting the British Royal Family's ever-evolving relationship with the camera over the last 200 years, to venues around the UK.

This must-see exhibition brings together over 100 images, including the most iconic images ever taken of the Royal Family captured by notable royal photographers such as Cecil Beaton, Annie Leibovitz and Rankin, as well as personal and lesser-known family portraits.

The Amelia Scott in Tunbridge Wells will host the exhibition from 13 February - 07 June 2026. It will then move to Blenheim Palace from 12 July - 27 September 2026.

Historic Royal Palaces is touring Life Through a Royal Lens with our partners Nomad Exhibitions.

From portraits to photographs

For centuries, the public has recognised their monarch through grand portraits and sculptures. The invention of photography in the 19th century transformed the relationship between royals and their subjects and, for the first time, offered the public a glimpse of the monarch's true appearance.
