Tours or talks

These are generally seasonal and don’t take place every day. They cover a range of specialist subjects - from the gardens, including the King's Kitchen Garden, and the Great Vine in the summer months, to tours of the Verrio paintings or a tour of the Little Banqueting House in the autumn. There are conservation tours or object talks on a more general theme at any time of year. Details are in your 'Today's Programme'.

•    No need to show your admission ticket
•    You may need to reserve a place as some tours have a limit on numbers. If this is the case, go to the Information Centre off Base Court
•    Check your 'Today's Programme' for day and time details

Audio guide tours

Audio tours are available in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Japanese, Russian and Korean. They will guide you around:

•    Henry VIII's Apartments
•    Henry VIII's Kitchens
•    William III's Apartments
•    Young Henry VIII's Story

The following areas are also available, in English only, in versions for partially sighted visitors - please enquire at the distribution desk in the Information Centre if you wish to use them:

•    Henry VIII's Kitchens
•    William III's Apartments
•    Young Henry VIII's Story

We also have three family audio tours in English that are suitable for children aged 6 and over.

Audio guides can be picked up from the Information Centre off Base Court. No need to book but they are subject to availability.

Private guided tours

For a truly memorable experience, why not book one of our friendly and knowledgeable guides for a private guided tour of the palace and/or gardens. Our guides are passionate about history, fun to be with and provide a whole range of fascinating facts and anecdotes to entertain all the family.

As well as general tours, our guides give specialist tours too: do contact us to find out if we run a tour on a topic that interests you, if you would prefer a tour with a costumed guide or if you fancy a roof tour! All of our guides are Institute of Tourist Guiding Level 2 qualified, which sets the gold standard for professional guiding.

Guides need to be booked and paid for in advance. If you are able to give a couple of weeks notice it will help us to match the most appropriate guide for your group, particularly if you are wanting a specialist tour, but please allow at least five working days to ensure a guide is available.

Tours start at £110 + VAT (£132) for a 1½ hour tour. This is in addition to palace admission tickets.

Further information

Three of our Guides are qualified to offer tours in French, German or Italian and one of our Guides is Deaf and a native British Sign Language user. These tours are subject to the availability of the guide so early booking is a requirement.

Three of our Guides have historic costumes so you could book a costumed tour guide - although this does cost more and is subject to the availability of these guides. They can only deliver tours in English.

We will always tailor the content to suit the needs of the group.
