This festive season, Historic Royal Palaces transforms the Tower of London into a magical storybook world, inviting visitors of all ages to discover a Christmas filled with royal romances, legendary figures and treasured traditions. 

From 28 November – 04 January, A Storybook Christmas at the Tower of London brings extraordinary history to life through sparkling decorations, glittering trees and enchanting installations. Explore tales of kings and queens, royal beasts, romance, celebration and daring adventure, where each display connects timeless tales of the past – perfect for families, history enthusiasts and those looking to spark their imagination this Christmas.

Meet the Beasts of the Tower

  • Discover the legends of the Tower’s royal menagerie, from lions and elephants to a polar bear that once amazed Londoners. Learn how animals became symbols of courage, wisdom and wonder across centuries of royal history.

Royal Celebration and Romance

  • Explore stories of monarchs past, from Elizabeth I’s dazzling coronation procession in 1558 to the love match of Edward I and Eleanor of Castile, celebrated on Chapel Green with festive trees, books, games and tokens of charity.

Myths and Legends

  • Encounter the famous ravens, legendary protectors of the Kingdom, and discover mythical tales of treasure, daring heists and royal ceremony.

Magical Photo Moments

  • Step onto a regal throne for a family portrait, find storybook backdrops among the Christmas trees and wreaths, and capture your own festive chapter at the Tower.
