Take part in the family fun this autumn and discover Hillsborough Castle and Gardens

Family foraging walk 

Explore the wild food growing in Hillsborough Castle’s gardens on this fun foraging walk for families. Learn more about the season of autumn and the flora and fauna all around us, and maybe taste test some delicious goods made from foraged food! Children aged 5+. 

Date: Saturday 28 September
Time: Sessions at 10:30 - 12:00, 13:00 - 14:30, 15:00 - 16:30
Location: Stable Yard courtyard

Places are limited. Please collect a ticket from the Stable Yard 30 minutes before the session. This session will take place outside and will only be cancelled in the event of extreme adverse weather.  Please dress appropriately. 

Garden explorers cart 

Choose from a wide variety of pick and mix resources to help you explore the gardens. Borrow bug pots and magnifying glasses, ID guides and binoculars or create your own Gardener’s Notebook or fortune teller from our cart.

Autumn make and take

Get crafty with our artist facilitator and make something wonderful to take home, inspired by the season of autumn. Children aged 5+.

Hands-on Hillsborough: Object handling

What will you discover at Hillsborough Castle and Gardens this autumn? Uncover some of the stories, characters and history for yourself by exploring some of the objects in our handling collection.

Halloween storytelling

Enjoy some spooky and traditional tales with renowned storyteller Liz Weir. Children aged 3+.

Join our artist facilitator and make at spooky lantern to take home. Why not use it to light your way on our atmospheric light trail? Children aged 5+.
