Using your Historic Royal Palaces membership

Welcome as a member of Historic Royal Palaces. You now hold the keys to the Tower of London and can call Hampton Court Palace home. Make a stylish entrance at Kensington Palace and explore 100 acres of stunning gardens in the grounds of Northern Ireland's only royal residence: Hillsborough Castle and Gardens.

Here you can find the answers to those questions most frequently asked by our new members, but if we have forgotten anything: please contact us ahead of your visit.

How do I book my member entrance ticket?

Our staff are ready and waiting to give you a royal welcome. With springtime adventures and family activities for all, now's the perfect time to visit.

As a member you can book your palace entry ticket using your member login and entering your membership number and surname.

What will I be asked to present on arrival at a palace?

On entrance you will be asked to present your membership card and member ticket booking. Please be prepared to show a form of ID to verify your details. 

As a new member, we will accept an online member ticket booking alone if you are awaiting your membership card. 

Where should I go on arrival?

You will be asked to present your member ticket booking and membership card on arrival at the main entrance points, as shown on each palace map. If you have forgotten your membership card please make your way on first arrival to an onsite ticket office. A temporary membership card can be issued for you.

Is the Magic Garden included in my membership?

Yes, entry to the Magic Garden at Hampton Court Palace is included in your membership. Come face to face with mysterious mythical beasts, storm the battlements, besiege the towers and explore the secret grotto; let the adventure begin!

Membership entitles only those named on the card to enter. Any additional or unnamed guests will be required to purchase additional tickets. Please check the Magic Garden opening times in advance of your visit.

  • Can I attend events and exhibitions for less as a member?

    As a Historic Royal Palaces member, take advantage of exclusive member timeslots and free or discounted event tickets. Take a look at our what's on pages to start planning your first adventure now. Members go free event tickets can be accessed via your member login. 

  • Do you offer member-only events?

    As a Historic Royal Palaces member you now have access to an additional programme of exclusive, behind-the-scenes member events including tours, talks and more. Member-only events can be found via our what's on pages.

    You can be among the very first to find out about upcoming events, exhibitions and family activities by signing up to receive emails from Historic Royal Palaces. If you did not do so when joining, don't worry; simply contact us to opt in to hear from us.

  • How can I apply my Historic Royal Palaces membership when booking to visit Kew Palace and Kew Gardens

    As a member you benefit from a 10% discount on admission into Kew Gardens, in which Kew Palace is situated. This allows you to visit the intimate Kew Palace, Queen Charlotte's Cottage and the Great Pagoda during their seasonal opening hours, as well as access to Kew Gardens.

    Discounted tickets can be purchased via Royal Botanic Gardens.  A valid Historic Royal Palaces membership card must be presented on admission.

    Please follow these steps:

    1. Visit Royal Botanic Gardens Kew
    2. Click on ‘Book tickets’, then ‘Book your time slot’
    3. Select 'All Other Visitors'
    4. Select the date and time you would like to visit
    5. Enter your Historic Royal Palaces members-only discount code when the promotional code box is offered, which will provide you with the option to purchase tickets for a discounted rate. 

    To confirm your members-only discount code please contact us providing your membership number. If awaiting your membership card, please alternatively provide your email address so that we may locate your membership record. 

    Please note that discounted tickets may only be purchased for those named on the Historic Royal Palaces membership, and don't forget to take your membership card along with you when you visit.

  • I opted to pay by direct debit, when will I be debited?

    If you have signed up to pay by direct debit your membership will be debited by Historic Royal Palaces. We will contact you by letter or email to provide confirmation of the payment date, however you can continue to use your membership as normal before the payment is debited.
