You will have the chance to meet three fascinating characters related to the Tower of London’s history. These are Phillis Wheatley, Guy Fawkes, and Colonel Blood. Through Q&As you will discover what life was like for people in their position at that point in history. In addition, you will discover more about life at the Tower through object handling sessions and provisional activity timetable is available in the Essential Information Pack.
You are also welcome to explore the rest of the Tower, including the White Tower and the Jewel House, in which the Crown Jewels are displayed. Please note that there may be a long queue for the Crown Jewels exhibition. School visits will not take place on this date, so the site will be quieter than usual, however the site will still be open to members of the public.
We advise arriving before 2pm to ensure that you have time to explore the site and can join in planned activities. Last admission to the event is at 3pm, and the Tower closes at 4.30pm.
Prior to your visit, you can explore our website to learn more about the history of the Tower of London. Search our learning resources for games, quizzes, timelines and videos on the Tower’s history.

The Tower of London welcomes all visitors, and we endeavour to ensure visitors with disabilities enjoy the full experience. Our accessibility guide provides more detailed information.
All activities running for home educated families as part of this event are in accessible spaces. Object handling and art workshop sessions will take place on the first floor of the New Armouries building, which can be accessed via a lift. In the event of an evacuation, there are evac chairs and refuge points.
In addition, there are sights and sounds around the site that might trigger those in your group who have sensory issues. This includes:
Audio and film projections
Hard surfaces that can make some spaces echoey
Dramatic lighting changes
Light open spaces and darker, enclosed rooms
Content of some of the displays might be triggering or distressing (in particular; the ‘Torture at the Tower’ display in the lower Wakefield Tower; the ‘Princes in the Tower’ presentation in the Bloody Tower; objects relating to execution in the White Tower; and the ‘Imprisonment in the Tower’ display in the Beauchamp Tower)
Guards and Yeoman Warders may shout in the course of their duties.
Three lunchrooms (Lower Bowyer, Cradle Tower and Fusiliers) will be open throughout the day as a dedicated breakout space for home educated families. Please note that the Cradle Tower lunchroom is not accessible. You may wish to eat your lunch in these spaces. They will be quieter than other areas of the Tower as they are reserved for home educator families on this date. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer a dedicated space for prayer.
Please get in touch with the learning team [email protected] or on 020 3166 6646 (phone opening times vary) with any access needs to allow us to make arrangements to maximise your enjoyment of the day. Access lanyards will be available on request for attendees with disabilities or who are neurodiverse, allowing you to skip queues during the event.
Buggies can be taken into the Tower; however, storage facilities are limited so you may have to keep your buggy with you.
The Tower does not have any cloakroom or left luggage facilities.
You are welcome to feed anywhere on site. However, if you prefer a more secluded location you may want to use the breakout spaces.
